4 Day Uganda Gorilla Trek: Bwindi

4 days Starts Entebbe Ends Entebbe Private Super Luxury Safaris package

Four days is the honest minimum for Bwindi if you are landing at Entebbe. The forest road is eight to ten hours; we do not pretend you can trek on arrival day. Super Luxury arranges the lodges — camping through high-end. Gorilla tracking is limited, so we do not sell this trip until the Uganda Wildlife Authority date is real and the permit is paid. This sits beside our Tanzania and Kenya work because Uganda is one of the four countries we operate. The Arusha office remains your contact.

Day by day

Day 1

Entebbe to Bwindi

Entebbe to Bwindi is eight to ten hours of real Uganda road, with a lunch stop in Mbarara. We do not pretend you can trek on arrival day. You watch the farms change into tea, then forest, and you sleep on the edge of the impenetrable wood.

Super Luxury remains your Arusha contact. The lodge is named once the Uganda Wildlife Authority sector is known.

Day 2

Gorilla tracking in Bwindi

Briefing at the gate, then a guided walk to the habituated family on your permit. Time with the gorillas is one hour — that rule is not ours to stretch. The walk can be thirty minutes or several steep hours. When you arrive, the forest goes quiet in a way no savanna game drive can copy.

We do not confirm this departure until UWA has issued the permit for your date. The permit is its own line on the quote, not buried in a vague package price.

Day 3

Bwindi community and forest edge

A Batwa or Buhoma community walk, birds, and the forest edge. This day is included so the trek is not the only memory you take from Bwindi. A second gorilla permit runs only if UWA still has space and you ask for it.

Day 4

Bwindi to Entebbe

Return road to Entebbe — again eight to ten hours — for a hotel or airport drop-off, which ends the trip. Do not book an international departure before 21:00. This is a transfer day, and we will not pretend otherwise.

When to travel

Season and routing

Bwindi permits are issued for a named date and a named gorilla family sector (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga or Nkuringo). Dry months (June–August and December–February) are easier walking; the forest is open all year.

Where you sleep

Choose your stay style

Four ways to travel the same parks. Pick one style for the whole safari, or mix nights — we quote what you actually want. Names below are properties we often confirm. The lodge or camp on your quote is the booking; nothing here is reserved until you approve it.

  1. Camping Safari tents, a cook, the night sounds of the park. The honest, close-to-the-ground way to safari.
  2. Mid-range En-suite lodges and tented camps we use most — a proper bed, a shower, and the game still at the door.
  3. Luxury Pools, full-service dining, the better rooms in the same parks.
  4. High-end Suite camps and private houses when the trip is built around silence and space.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Camping

A community campsite on the forest edge — basic, honest, and close to the briefing gate.

Mid-range

A Buhoma or Rushaga mid-range lodge, named once the permit sector is known.

Luxury

Mahogany Springs, Buhoma Lodge, or a similar forest-view lodge with a hot shower after the trek.

High-end

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp — suite rooms for the night before your allocated family.

Before you book

Practical notes

  • Day 1 and day 4 are eight to ten hours on the road each way. We do not pretend you can trek on arrival day. A domestic flight to Kisoro or Kihihi can shorten the road if you add it to the quote; it is not in the base package.
  • Gorilla tracking is for guests aged 15 and over. The walk can be 30 minutes or several hours depending on where the family fed. If the family is far, you still get the allocated hour with them once you arrive.
  • The trip is not confirmed until the Uganda Wildlife Authority has issued the permit for your date. The permit is paid as its own line on the quote, not buried in a vague package price.
  • Day 3 is a Batwa or community forest walk, not a second gorilla trek. A second permit is an extra if UWA still has space.
