Marangu is the only Kilimanjaro route that sleeps in park huts instead of tents. Five days is the official minimum: forest to Mandara Hut, moorland to Horombo Hut, the saddle to Kibo Hut, midnight summit, then down. It is the most direct hut itinerary we sell, not the gentlest.
Your Super Luxury mountain crew meets you in Arusha or Moshi. Park fees, hut fees, rescue fees, guides, porters and cook are included. A sleeping bag is not. Town hotels before and after the climb are camping-to-high-end — you choose.

The transfer from Arusha or Moshi ends at Marangu Gate (1,870 m). Registration, a briefing, the first look at the forest that hides the mountain. This is not paperwork you sit through. Permits, porters, wet cedar, and the moment your climb becomes real.
The walk to Mandara Hut is four to five hours through rainforest — colobus in the canopy, birds you will never name, a trail that climbs without drama. Mandara sits at about 2,700 m in a clearing of A-frame huts. You eat with your Super Luxury crew, you sleep in a park bunk, you listen to the forest instead of a city. Overnight at Mandara Hut.

The forest thins. Giant heather and moorland take over, and on a clear day Kibo appears as a white wall ahead of you. This is the day the mountain shows its scale. Horombo Hut (3,720 m) is the main village of this route — more huts, more climbers, a first real taste of altitude.
Walk slowly. Drink. The views of Mawenzi on one side and Kibo on the other are why people still choose Marangu. Overnight at Horombo Hut.

Today you cross the alpine desert of the saddle to Kibo Hut (4,700 m), the last hut before the summit. The air is thin, the ground is dust and stone, and the hut itself is a simple, wind-cut building at the foot of the cone. This is the night you came for, and the one you will remember as the quiet before.
Early dinner, then rest. Midnight is coming. Overnight at Kibo Hut.

Summit night. Headlamps, a slow zigzag to Gilman’s Point on the crater rim, then the traverse to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) if the guide says you still have the legs. Sunrise on the glaciers is the photograph you came for — and the reason you trusted a Super Luxury Safaris Team instead of a nameless roster.
You do not linger. The descent to Horombo is long and honest. Overnight at Horombo Hut.

A last forest walk back to Marangu Gate, certificates in your hand, and the transfer to Arusha or Moshi, which ends the climb. Your legs will remind you for a week. That is the point of a mountain, and of choosing a team that still answers after the gate.

When to travel
Dry months (January–March and June–October) are the usual climbing window. April–May and November are wetter, with heavier trail mud. We still run climbs in the rains if you accept that. Summit night is cold on every route. Five days on Marangu is the park minimum. It is steeper on acclimatization than a six-day hut climb; we say so on the quote.
Where you sleep
Four ways to travel the same parks. Pick one style for the whole safari, or mix nights — we quote what you actually want. Names below are properties we often confirm. The lodge or camp on your quote is the booking; nothing here is reserved until you approve it.
We do not camp in town. You need a proper bed, a shower and a breakfast before the gate.
Planet Lodge, Mvuli Hotel, or a similar Arusha / Moshi hotel on bed and breakfast.
Gran Meliá Arusha, Arusha Coffee Lodge — a quieter garden night before Machame or Marangu.
Legendary Lodge, Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge — small, private houses when the climb is part of a longer high-end safari.
