Day 1

Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth is a long Uganda road — typically six to seven hours via Masaka and Mbarara — not the eight-to-ten-hour Bwindi haul, and not a game drive. Farms, then the rift escarpment, then channel country. You sleep inside the park or on its edge, depending on the lodge class on the quote.

Super Luxury remains your Arusha contact. Park fees for Queen Elizabeth sit on the quote. This is not a gorilla day.

Day 2

Queen Elizabeth — Kazinga Channel

The Kazinga Channel is why this itinerary spends a full day in Queen Elizabeth instead of treating the park as a corridor to Bwindi. A launch along the water puts you at hippo, buffalo and elephant height. A game drive on the Mweya peninsula is the land half — Ugandan kob, lion if they hunted close, crater views if the cloud lifts.

Day 3

Ishasha to Bwindi

Ishasha is the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth: fig trees, open grassland, and lions that sometimes lie up on branches. Sometimes is the honest word. We look. We do not guarantee a cat in a tree, and we will not write the sentence that pretends otherwise.

After the morning we continue to Bwindi. The road is shorter than Entebbe–Bwindi, but it is still a transfer. You sleep on the forest edge so tomorrow’s briefing is close.

Day 4

Gorilla tracking in Bwindi

The gorilla morning is the reason you came to Bwindi. Briefing, a steep or mercifully short walk, then one allocated hour with a habituated family. We cannot promise how far they fed overnight. We can promise we will not pretend the hour is flexible.

Super Luxury does not hold a secret stash of permits. UWA issues them. Until that paper is real, this itinerary is a plan, not a booking.

Day 5

Bwindi community and forest edge

The trek is not the only memory you take from Bwindi, which is why this day is included: a Batwa or Buhoma community walk, birds, and the forest edge. A second gorilla permit runs only if you ask for it and UWA still has space.

Day 6

Bwindi to Entebbe

The road back to Entebbe is a full day. We do not pretend it is a game drive with a late airport drop. Do not book an international departure before 21:00. Hotel or airport drop-off ends the trip.

When to travel

Season and routing

Kibale chimpanzee permits and Bwindi gorilla permits are each issued for a named date. Dry months are easier walking in both forests. Queen Elizabeth is a year-round savanna park; Kazinga runs in all seasons. Ishasha lions in trees are more often seen in the drier months, and still never guaranteed.

Four ways to travel the same parks. Pick one style for the whole safari, or mix nights — we quote what you actually want. Names below are properties we often confirm. The lodge or camp on your quote is the booking; nothing here is reserved until you approve it.

  1. Camping Safari tents, a cook, the night sounds of the park. The honest, close-to-the-ground way to safari.
  2. Mid-range En-suite lodges and tented camps we use most — a proper bed, a shower, and the game still at the door.
  3. Luxury Pools, full-service dining, the better rooms in the same parks.
  4. High-end Suite camps and private houses when the trip is built around silence and space.

Camping

A park or nearby community campsite — simple, close to a dawn drive on the peninsula.

Mid-range

Bush Lodge, Enganzi Lodge, or a similar Mweya-side lodge named on the quote.

Luxury

Mweya Safari Lodge, Elephant Plains, or a similar channel-view lodge.

High-end

Kyambura Gorge Lodge, Ishasha Wilderness Camp when we sleep in the south — suite tents, quieter nights.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Camping

A community campsite on the forest edge — basic, honest, and close to the briefing gate.

Mid-range

A Buhoma or Rushaga mid-range lodge, named once the permit sector is known.

Luxury

Mahogany Springs, Buhoma Lodge, or a similar forest-view lodge with a hot shower after the trek.

High-end

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp — suite rooms for the night before your allocated family.

Before you book

Practical notes

  • Day 1 is the Entebbe–Queen Elizabeth road, typically six to seven hours. It is not a full game day.
  • Ishasha tree lions are a look, not a promise. Kazinga is a launch with a timetable.
  • Gorilla tracking is for guests aged 15 and over. Day 5 is a Batwa or community forest walk, not a second gorilla trek.
  • The trip is not confirmed until UWA has issued the gorilla permit for your date. Queen Elizabeth park fees and the Kazinga boat sit on the quote.
  • Do not book an international departure from Entebbe before 21:00 on day 6.
